VISITOR TOURIST VISA
Canada’s visitor visa which is also called a temporary resident visa, normally allows the visitor to stay in Canada for up to 6 months. It can be a single-entry type, which allows for only one foreign national entry into Canada. Or it can be a multiple entry type, this allows the foreign national unlimited entry into Canada and this visa can be valid for up to 10 years.
What is a eTA (electronic Travel Authorization)?
As of March 15, 2016, travellers with passports from countries that are visa-exempt who enter Canada by air will need an eTA.
The authorization is electronically linked to your passport and is valid for five years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first.
SUPER VISA, FOR PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS
Currently, most visitors to Canada may visit for up to six months when they first enter Canada. Visitors who wish to stay longer must apply for an extension, and pay a new fee.
With the parent and grandparent super visa, eligible parents and grandparents can visit family in Canada for longer periods of time than with a visitor visa.
The super visa is a multi-entry visa that provides multiple entries for a period up to 10 years. The key difference is that the super visa allows an individual to stay for up to 5 years at a time in Canada, while a 10-year multiple entry visa would only have a status period for each entry of six months only.
